5 Teen Idols That Were Lost To Time

It’s interesting to think that there were many people who, at one time, were always in the spotlight have disappeared for the most part. You really have to look to find some of them, and some don’t want to be found.

These celebrities were popular because they were good looking, along with being at the right place at the right time. They may be living differently than what you remember, and if you’d like to learn more about them, we have information about five celebrities below.

John Walmsley

If you remember the Waltons television show, then you probably remember John Walmsley. He played Jason Walton, the younger brother of John Boy in the show that ran from 1972 until 1981.

At one time, he lived in California but in 2019, he went to Cornwall, Britain, and is living a quiet life with his wife, Marion. They don’t have any children.

He had moved to California with his parents when they immigrated from Lancashire, Britain when he was only two years old. He now lives a quiet life in a town that is out of the way. He also changed his looks a few years ago, so people don’t really recognize him as one of the Waltons.

He feels that living an anonymous life is an advantage because he loves watching people. He feels that people act differently around celebrities. He and his wife spend a lot of time enjoying the beauty of the area, especially since they had gone there many years for vacation.

Leif Garrett

When it comes to teen heartthrobs, it would be difficult to find one who is more loved than Leif Garrett. He was one of the teenage idols of the 1970s, responsible for the song, “I Was Made for Dancin.”

He was well known for his boyish looks in the 70s, but when he reappeared for a moment in 2023, many of his former friends were disappointed.

At the time that he was a teenage idle, he kept things very clean. Many of his friends were pre-teenage girls, but when he began life as an adult, it didn’t turn out as well as expected. He struggled with substance abuse and also with guilt over an accident that left one of his friends paralyzed.

Ginger Coyote, an actress and author shared a picture of Garrett’s on March 30, 2023. It was what he looked like the last time she saw him. Let’s just say it was a lot different than his younger look.

Garrett struggled because he was not treated properly when he was a teenage idle. He even had to fake sickness and realize that he was living a lie, all because they wanted to fill seats at his concerts.

They even hired a background singer and that made Garrett feel as if they were not recording his music any longer. He felt like they were taking advantage of him for his looks.

These days, he still is playing music but now he feels good about himself and the music he does.

Bo Derek

Bo Derek was born as Mary Cathleen Collins in 1959. When she was dating John Derek, who became her husband, she came up with the name Bo. She was only 16 years old when she appeared in the Fantasies movie and eventually, would become a household name.

John Derek was 30 years her senior but he fell in love with her while they were filming. She dropped out of high school and stayed in Europe so that they could get around the statutory rape laws. He got divorced and married her.

They were married when she was 18 and returned to California. That was 1976, and they stayed married until his death in 1998.

Many of her movies did well, but 10 really launched her career in an amazing way. She also had to appear in a number of films that didn’t do as well. After he died, she met another man five years later and fell in love again. That was John Corbett.

They stayed together for about two decades and were eventually married in 2020. No big announcement was made, as they are both private people. They enjoy life living on a ranch, riding horses and doing chores.

Bobby Sherman

In the 1960s and 70s, Bobby Sherman was one of the top teenage idols. He wrote some songs, sang a lot of songs, and did some acting. One of his songs from the 1960s, Little Women was wildly popular.

Something else that Sherman was known for was sacrificing his career and focusing on his children. He became an EMT and eventually, a deputy sheriff. He was also busy filming, being part of the Partridge Family and Here Comes the Bride.

He enjoyed the shows and the attention, but he was spending so much time working that he didn’t know which end was up. He did record some scores for television shows over the years from the studio in his garage, but he was living away from the limelight.

It seemed as if he had it all in the 70s when he was recording music and enjoying living with his two sons. He was doing his best to keep things balanced, but his marriage came to an end in 1979.

That is when he decided to give up his career and live close to his son so he could see them more frequently. He was also somebody who took care of the children when they had accidents because his wife couldn’t stand the sight of blood.

In 1998, he held a concert again and his fans came out of the woodwork. It was part of The Teen Idol Tour, and his final show was on August 25, 2001.

In 2010, he married his second wife, Brigitte Poublon and they founded a nonprofit together. They enjoy giving back and he is always grateful of those who made him the person he is.

Allie McGraw

Allie McGraw was a very well-known actress and people still are talking about her on-screen performances to this day. She is also known for the romance in her life, as it didn’t always turn out as expected.

During her career as an actress, she was married three different times. First, she was married to Robin Hoen, and then she married producer Robert Evans. That was then followed by her marriage to Steve McQueen.

After marrying McQueen, he forced her to give up acting because he wanted more of a normal life. McQueen had a difficult childhood, and he wanted her to focus on raising a child.

They certainly did have their problems, and he had issues with substance abuse and infidelity before they were eventually divorced in 1977. At that point, she felt it was necessary to establish more of a stable home and to retire.

She didn’t feel it was right to accept a divorce settlement but that left her destitute. She feels that she had a romantic take on divorce but in reality, she calls herself stupid for her decisions.

Because of her past marriages and financial problems, she decided to leave Hollywood and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. That took place in 1994, after her house was destroyed by a fire.

She enjoys spending time in a tiny cottage, collecting rocks and reading books. She has been single for well over 40 years, is retired from acting and doesn’t plan on returning.
