Teen Idol Bobby Sherman Took A Better Life Path

There are plenty of people who start out in a career doing something and before they are finished with life, they have switched careers a number of times. This isn’t only something that we see celebrities doing, but on occasion, even they may surprise us.

Bobby Sherman is someone who was famous in the 1960s because he was a teen idol. When he became a father, however, he made the switch to emergency medicine and has found it to be a rewarding option from that time forward.

For those who remember Bobby Sherman from his early years, they probably remember him acting and singing and occasionally writing a song. It was during the 1960s and 1970s that he released a number of singles that were at the top of the charts.

He decided, eventually, that he wanted to do more with his life and his career took a turn. After having children, he wanted to spend more time with them so he became an EMT and eventually, a reserve deputy sheriff.

Sherman was well-known in the 1970s for producing a number of hit singles. He also was busy filming The Partridge Family, Here Comes the Bride, and a number of other movies.

He admitted that it was a difficult life to live and sometimes, he couldn’t even tell you where home was. That all started to change once he made the changes in his life.

He even talks about how he met his future wife, Patti Carmel by accident. He lived in the same apartment building with her friend, Diane, and there was some confusion, as they had him as the person who hosted the Shindig musical variety series.

It wasn’t long after they met that they started dating and eventually, got married. They had two sons together and Sherman wanted to be very involved in raising them.

Interestingly, Sherman also never drank or smoked in his life. He didn’t have a specific reason why he avoided doing so, but he didn’t want to be a bad example for his children so he stuck with his decision.

He even built his children a replica of Disneyland’s Main Street in their backyard, spending $15,000 on it. It was a good life they were living.

Eventually, his marriage ended but he still decided to stick close to his children. He even had a stalker along the way, one who would send him letters and wanted to come and visit.

Eventually, he also learned that he had a knack for taking care of his children when they were hurt. His wife couldn’t do it because she was squeamish about blood, so he became a makeshift nurse and emergency response.

He got so good at it that eventually, he got additional emergency training and became an EMT. He then got with the Los Angeles Police Department and became a sworn police officer with the LAPD and the local sheriff’s department.

It’s been an interesting life, but it’s one he wouldn’t change for anything.
