For months, U.S. Army Specialist Jeremy Ferris carried a special memory with him from his deployment in Jordan: a stray dog who had become his constant companion.

Her name was Sadie.

Ferris first encountered the young dog shortly after arriving at Tower 22, a U.S. military outpost in Jordan. What began as an unexpected meeting quickly turned into a daily friendship.

Ferris began feeding Sadie, and she would greet him when he returned from missions. During a difficult period far from home, the dog became an important source of comfort and companionship.

But when Ferris eventually returned to the United States, Sadie remained behind.

He and his wife, Heather, wanted to bring her home.

With assistance from animal rescue organizations Paws of War and Tabanni, the process of transporting Sadie to the United States was arranged. The journey took months and involved medical and logistical preparations.

Then, on September 3, the wait finally ended.

Ferris and Sadie were reunited in the United States.

The emotional moment was captured as Sadie saw Ferris again. After everything they had been through apart, she was finally in the same place as the person who had cared for her overseas.

Ferris later described Sadie’s companionship as something that helped him through his deployment.

The dog also had a new environment to discover, including Ferris’ other dog, Sonny. According to the report, Sadie quickly began adjusting to her new life.

For Ferris, however, the most important part was simple: Sadie was finally home.
