More Than 200,000 Jeep Vehicles Recalled in U.S. Over Tire-Pressure Warning Problem

September 10, 2026 | United States

More than 200,000 Jeep vehicles are being recalled across the United States because of a software problem that could prevent drivers from receiving a warning when their tires are underinflated.

Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler and Jeep, is recalling 201,976 vehicles, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

What’s Wrong With the Vehicles?

The problem involves the vehicles’ tire-pressure monitoring system, a safety feature designed to alert drivers when one or more tires have dangerously low air pressure.

According to NHTSA, a software error could cause the system to fail to properly detect low tire pressure or prevent the warning light from illuminating.

That means some drivers may not realize they are operating a vehicle with an underinflated tire.

Safety Officials Warn of Increased Crash Risk

Driving with improperly inflated tires can affect vehicle handling and tire performance.

NHTSA said the software issue increases the risk of a crash and means the affected vehicles do not comply with federal tire-pressure monitoring safety requirements.

The recall is the latest reminder for vehicle owners to pay attention to manufacturer and federal safety notices, particularly when they involve systems that may not provide an obvious sign that something is wrong.

What Jeep Owners Should Know

Owners who believe their vehicle could be affected should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) against official recall information from NHTSA or contact an authorized Jeep dealer.

Drivers should also continue checking their tire pressure manually rather than relying exclusively on the dashboard warning system until they know whether their vehicle is affected.
